Successful Human Rights Implementation? Victims of Crime and the Swedish Example

Consideration of victims and how best to acknowledge their rights position in the criminal prosecution process has become an intrinsic part drafting negotiation new international law instruments. In studies states’ implementation victims’ rights, Sweden often places at top class. This article challenges concept successful human norms by critically analysing conformity Swedish with legal obligations towards crime. It further contributes existing literature describing factors that may facilitate or obstruct such implementation, demonstrates Sweden’s as a model is more result historical given crime country than its commitment live up obligations. The also raises doubt government’s assuring national upholds present norms, protecting into future.
